My name is Giovanni Barrera, I Started my photographic career initially focused on wildlife and photojournalism way back in the 80s. Although I'm an electronics engineer and airplane pilot, nowadays I combine my two passions as a way of living: aviation and photography.
This doesn't mean that photography is just a work for me, is more than that, is a way of life: the art of discover and appreciate the beauty of God's creation in every corner and creature; a time machine that freezes moments in a single frame.
I moved to Florida in 2004, to the beautiful Fort Lauderdale. This change in my life brought new different interests in my photography as well:
I have found paradise like landscapes, an exhuberant nature, and urban scenes of a never-sleeping capital of culture like Miami; This is like paradise for any photographer, but Miami is also well known for being a capital for the fashion scene, so fashion and model photography became one of my unexcusable themes. I'm a lover of clasic photography and natural light; black and white is my favorite, due to the specially powerful message in terms of content and emotions that it transmits. however I do admire color composition and the digital revolution
of photography that brought a wide spectrum of posibilities, and since I have a student soul, I couldn't get behind the wave but I'd rather be
on top, so I love to work with new techniques and get the best of both worlds. I have been published in various magazines in the western hemisphere, from nature and wildlife to fashion, lifestyle and fine art.
