Hi there,
I'm a 31 year old amateur photographer/artist from NE Scotland wanting to progress as much as I can with a portfolio of work. Up until now I have been using friends and family as my subject matter - I find human geometry fascinating and enjoy blending the human figure (either nude or clothed) with a natural setting or indoors using natural light if possible. I love photography with a vintage, retro feel to it - digital purity is not what I'm after - double exposures, light leaks, noise and grain are more appealing to me. If this look is not achieved in the initial shoot then it is subtly captured later with Photoshop. Although I do not limit myself just to this as I love to experiment. I like to mix time lines and genres together - medieval dress with 1960's make -up- I like capturing something that looks as if it may be a still taken from a cult movie (another inspiration/influence are some of the great 1960's/70's Czech films - the cinematography in 'Valerie and Her Week of Wonders' is just beautiful). I like work that also pushes boundaries and makes you think. I also like experimenting with 120 film, using a Holga camera for capturing that old feel. My other passions in life are music -playing/writing - art, painting, film, literature, history -especially that of early 1900's bohemia, the counter culture of the late 60's and Celtic and pagan mythology-I love the great outdoors -walking, camping, swimming in rivers - and growing my own organic food.
