About Me

Fine Art photography has been an outlet for my creativity for over a decade. Achieving the perfect aesthetic to my images is always top of mind. In other words, I don’t plan a shoot just to shoot. I shoot with a specific concept or project in mind.  I try hard to have my work stand out so that I (and my models) can take pride in the work we create.  As I’m rereading all of that, I think I sound like a bit of a primadonna, even to myself, but really I just mean that I want our images to be able to hang in the Louvre or the Guggenheim one day.  Nothing too lofty.  You know what I mean?  Of course I’ll be happy with a few print sales in the event that I never get a call from those curators.

I have worked with models of all experience levels.  I am comfortable providing posing direction, however, I spend time trying to communicate the desired look of the images beforehand and really rely on improvisation and experimentation.  I can give about a 90% assurance that you won’t fall off a cliff or into a cactus or out a window or get hit by a car while we’re shooting.  Actually, make that 80%.  There was that incident with the bee’s nest...

I pride myself on the level of professionalism that I bring to a shoot. I believe that model and photographer should have respect for each other and develop trust in order for a shoot to be a success.  That includes communication both prior to and after a shoot.  My grandmother isn’t going to die the day of a shoot (again) and my dog won’t eat my homework (metaphorically speaking) so if we’ve got a shoot planned, I’ll be there.  I expect the same in return.  I hope that all doesn’t sound too stuffy, because I also like to have FUN on my shoots.  I don’t mean “crack open the beers and fire up a joint” kind of fun, but I’m a pretty easy going guy and I’ve gotten along smashingly with every model I’ve worked with. Except for that one...  (That’s entirely untrue. Everyone was great. I wonder if anyone reads this far into a bio?)

I do require a Model Release for all shoots and I will be very specific about makeup, grooming, and other preparatory requirements before the shoot.  I also like to hear YOUR ideas.  As hard as it may be to believe, some of my favorite pieces were the model’s idea and not even my own.  My avatar with Helena in a round concrete barrel?  Totally her idea. I just made her float down the river with a little Photoshop magic for good measure.  But I digress.  If you’ve got an idea for a shoot that you’d like my vast experience and unparalleled vision for, drop me a line. And there I go again sounding like a primadonna...

"One of the definite highlights of my first ever Arizona trip was shooting with Aaron! Driving around downtown Tucson and posing guerilla-style in front of traditional Mexican houses was incomparable to any other experience on this trip! Although he was nervous enough for us both, the adrenaline rush of this project was spectacular! Really hope to shoot with him again on trip 2!" Read less

"Upon meeting Aaron, we instantly connected. He is very professional, kind and patient. His work in nudes in nature are superb, he can capture the light on a model in such a way that her true soul is instantly captured. Shooting in the desert for the first time I was nervous for fear of snakes and cactus pricks, but all my nerves went away after shooting with Aaron. Hope to work together again." Read less

"Aaron, is a very organized photographer. He comes to the table with a plan of action and makes sure everyone is on the same page. He has shown that he cares about his models comfort levels whether it's mentally or physically. Aaron should be described as a professional who looks to have both model and photographer walk away with confidence that they have created great art." Read less
