Friends (58)About Me
Tohm Lev is a pop singer-songwriter based in New York City. After completing her military service in the Israeli Air Force, Tohm took a leap of faith by moving to NY to pursue her music career. She writes funny, quirky lyrics with catchy pop melodies that share her unique outlook on life. Tohm's distinct sound can can be described as a fusion of Sara Bareilles and Owl City.
Tohm jumpstarted her career through a little serendipity, when she met Simon Kirk (Bad Company's legendary drummer) while she was working as a dog-walker. Shortly thereafter, they started recording demos together and translated her Hebrew songs into English. In 2011, she released her first album "Tohm Girl" produced by Grammy-nominated producer Larry Dvoskin and Lady Gaga's co-writer Gordon Grody. Tohm has been featured at NYC venues such as Sullivan Hall, Webster Hall, Galapagos Lounge, R Bar, The Bitter End, & Telephone Bar, just to name a few. Some of the artists who inspire Tohm's writing are: The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Elton John, and Regina Spektor. At a young age, Tohm drew inspiration from strong female characters who fought for what they wanted, despite seemingly overwhelming odds against them. Characters such as Buffy Summers in the hit TV series, "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," as well as childhood heroines like Ariel from Disney's "The Little Mermaid," offered Tohm inspiration which she applied to her work. Most of Tohm's songs have underlying themes of female empowerment, independence, and following your dreams. "I fall in love quickly. I also get my heart broken at times. My therapy is writing music, singing it, and sharing it with others. I believe that we all go through hard times and experience similar challenges as human beings. As an artist, I am honored to express it in a way that can inspire and empower others." - Tohm Lev Credit Notes
