About Me

AS CLOTHING SIZES ARE IMPORTANT TO THE SHOOT, I AM HAPPY AND VERY INTERESTED TO DISCUSS NOW FUTURE SHOOTS, SO WE CAN AGREE ON TERMS AND CONTENT FOR THE SHOOT IN ADVANCE. smile

Firstly, I am not a professional, just an amateur who studied photography while at University. (I'd only call myself a professional if this was my only source of income and to be honest, I'm more interested in the craft than I am the money. I'm more relaxed when I don't have the pressure of deadlines and clients.) There I was a devotee of black and white film, especially medium format film. I developed a style based on maximizing each individual frame rather than taking massive amounts of images and sorting out the best. It has taken me a VERY long time to move from film into the digital world, but I am here at last and looking to do more work with models and less shooting architecture.

I am looking to work mainly models interested in historical clothing in a variety of settings. In addition I'd like to continue to work with the nude female form either in studio or nature, based on images from the 1920s and 1930s, as suits the availability of space and the comfort of the model to work in those settings and with me.

I have a project I'm working with using military uniforms and another based on the Grant Wood painting "American Gothic" which are taking a bit of my time these days. Specifically looking for a model of Indian background to contribute to the uniform shoot.

As a side note, I've now had a number of my photographs selected for publication. One of my architectural images in a 2014 calendar and one of my animal images in a 2015 calendar. I've also had my equestrian images published in the Baltimore Sun, the Irish Field, and the Washington Post. From 2014-2017 I shot freelance for a monthly equestrian paper and in 2015 was published in another equestrian magazine. Since 2017 I've moved away from journalistic photography and have been actively shooting collaborative work for a local artist for use as the basis of many of his paintings. So, while I'm a part-time paid amateur, I can also call myself a published amateur.

Not sure what that means, but it was a nice way to move into 2024.
