About Me

As a sculptor for the past 18 years, I have found the human form to be a perfect vehicle to express myself artistically. While I first discovered and pursued figurative sculpture on my own in high school, it wasn’t until I graduated and worked for a bronze foundry that I began to see the full potential that figurative sculpture held for me. After several years of foundry work, I moved my family to Connecticut to study formally at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Art. Upon graduation in 2005 I have enthusiastically taught figure sculpture and drawing (as well as moldmaking and casting) to hosts of students both at my alma mater and other local community schools. While my professional work is more contemporary in concept and execution, I’ve always held that pure figurative realism is my artistic home; a place to nurture and renew constantly. I’ve taken to heart the words of my late professor and mentor, Deane Keller, expressed to me shortly before he passed away in 2005. To paraphrase, he said that, “Regardless what I end up doing artistically, I should return home often as possible as the human form is where all inspiration is born.” I have remembered these words and consistently sought out ways to renew and refresh my love of the classical figurative tradition. Through teaching and private study, I find that the daily renewal of classical form to be a dependable lifeline in my career.
