Shahrzad uses photography to create her own universe, one that is always mysterious, at times anxious, other times lonely and quiet. She is interested in photographs that engage and provoke both intellectually and viscerally. Shahrzad connects various genres of photography, studio combined with location, landscape and portrait to create non linear narratives that resemble the ruptures in our everyday lives and fracture the ways we make meanings.

Born in San Francisco to Iranian parents, Shahrzad grew up in various cities around the globe. A gypsy at heart, she creates photographs while she wanders the far corners of the world, as well as the times she is at her studio in New York.
