With over ten years on the front lines of the international beauty world, Ran Kowatari has established herself as one of the industry’s most sought-after nail artists for her innovative style and signature hand-detailed art.

Born in Kyoto, Japan, Ran launched her career in 2002, and she soon became a prominent figure in the Japanese fashion and entertainment industries. From 2005 to 2008, Ran taught as a faculty member of the Vantan Design Institute in Osaka while running her own private nail studio, which gave her the freedom to refine her artistic eye and attract a devoted following among celebrities, designers and musicians from across Japan.

In 2008, Ran made her way onto the New York fashion and editorial scene and has since opened RAN Design, a boutique nail studio in midtown Manhattan, where she continues her celebrity and editorial work while pushing the boundaries of nail art.
