My publishing imprint releases new and "classic" (reprint) editions of mystery, science fiction, and westerns. Novels, short stories, anthologies. When we can't use the original artwork, or need to develop something new, I create the images in photoshop.
Until recently, I relied on stock art to create book covers. But sometimes you really can't find necessary poses with that method.

After I've taken photographs, I'll use various paint "filters" and "actions" in Photoshop. I may even paint/trace over the figure. If the cover illustration calls for a movie poster approach, I'll add several elements behind the model — i.e. city skylines, cars, landmarks, other characters. You may not recognize your likeness right away on the published book.

We release several different books — some sell much better than others. One author described us as "a heroic little publishing imprint creating miracles on a shoestring budget."

Our niche audience appreciates the pulp fiction of the 1930s and 1940s, and the hardboiled paperback novels of the 1950 and 1960s, so I try to capture the style of that era. You may have seen the "Hard Case Crime" paperback novels in Barnes & Noble — we're aiming at that same market. Thus, models who appreciate the "retro" style of modeling, the glamour era of Bettie Page, would be my best candidates. If you wouldn't feel silly wearing vintage clothing and pointing a (fake) gun at the camera/viewer ... if you wouldn't feel silly in a sexy evening dress while holding a (fake) Tommy-gun ... then I could use your talents.
