Jarid Blue was born in Miami, Florida and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. He received his B.S in Hospitality Management at University of Central Florida. Blue was creatively influenced during his childhood by his grandfather who created intricate pattern based paintings and his father who worked as a kitchen and cabinetry designer. While he started making art after finishing his schooling, he has been very prolific in creating photographs and paintings. He focuses primarily on using the nude body as his canvas. Whether it is in his paintings or a photograph, the use of the body has been the most unifying factor in his work. From his hospitality experience, Blue has been very interested in creating specific positive experiences for his models. He projects his own artwork and photographs and other artist’s artwork onto his models to create what appears to be a second skin. Enlisting friends, artists, and anyone interested, Blue creates a comfortable space for those who model to shed their insecurities and “bathe in the light.” Blue currently works out of his studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. He invites anyone to book a light bath session if interested.

This new series that I am creating is meant to provide an outlet for people to shed insecurities and to feel comfortable in their own skin.

The light aids participants in unlocking deeper emotions that I then try to capture and present in the photos.

Sometimes the most minimal lines can speak volumes and accentuate the human form, or mask it completely and allow for the body take on another presence entirely
