About Me

2020 has been an interesting year between canceled events, postponed events and government ordered lockdowns not much has been going on…till now. So lets take advantage of the good weather and start executing those great ideas we had during captivity!

All of my summer Motorsports assignments have been postponed till after Labor Day so my plans are to shoot as often as I can with outdoor shoots in all genre but primarily swimwear, fashion, and headshot. Since I am retired my schedule this summer is pretty open and lookin primarily for trade shoots and seeking models that come with great ideas and want to explore new areas.

While mainly a hobby photographer now it has been part of my life since college and while my day jobs in sales and management kept my photography to part time I have managed camera stores , taught photography , conducted photographer /model workshops and of course sports .

While based in New Jersey I do the snowbird thing and spend two months plus in Florida (Orlando area)

I presently work out of a home based studio with a very private yard and pool and access to several rental studios and nearby parks.

Since retirement from my day job I have been photographing Motorsports, both professional and club level sports car series while doing model photography .

For this year I am looking to increase shooting models and am actively seeking trade and collaborative efforts in all genre . Like most things the more you do the better you get so my goal is to shoot as often as possible and am interested in hearing about the projects you are interested in doing and how I can help you. My original portfolio is Bob Helm Photography ,#10308 a combination fo some legacy images and newer work ( the oldest image is over 30 years old of a 17 year old high school senior and professional model...see if you can guess which one. Cannot go by image posted date ) Other images on my Instagram linked.

I am starting three personal projects this year. First is doing lifestyle glamour shoots with automobiles . Second is a jeans project and third is a pool /Swimwear ,Lingerie , nude project.

Presently looking to collaborate with models, designers and Make up/ Hair stylists to create interesting and unique images. Open to working with creatives at all experience levels and am open to TF. Many think that “Trade” means working for free, it isn’t it is a collaborative effort where people work together for a shared goal. Sometimes that is for shots for portfolio or web sites, sometimes for exploring new areas, sometimes for practice ( to keep from getting creatively rusty) , for creative expression or just the fun of it. While my aim is trade I am open to other arraignments . With Instagram and other social media sites taking a more prominent role now it is important to have a constant flow of new images and I have found that the most successful models post daily to develop a fan base which in itself becomes a source of income.

For over 20 years sponsored workshops for models and photographers, it was the longest running workshop series in New Jersey until suspended a few years ago

I have been on Model Mayhem since 2005 and safety for both models and my family is of prime importance. I know some beginner models are concerned about their safety, and they should always be aware and concerned. The best way to insure your safety is to vette the people and locations you will be working with and to always let someone else know who you will be with, where you will be and approximately what time you will be done. Best way to let the people you are working with that someone knows where you are is to call when you get to the location and let them know you have arrived safely and will call before leaving.. At public locations I have no problem with someone accompanying you, I may put them to work. Since my studio is in my home and space is very limited I do not encourage bringing anyone who cannot actively contribute to the shoot such as a MUA or someone to help with wardrobe. Plus my dog doesn’t like crowds . Public or private if they become a problem the shoot ends. This is never a problem with experienced models. Remember our safety is important.

Since joining Model Mayhem I have had the account under the Names Performance Photography and Rennsport Photography. The website from my workshop days is still up at http://performancephotonj.tripod.com
I am always looking to collaborate with models on TFP projects, especially outdoor ones.
If I sent you a friend request, tagged you or left a comment on an image I'm more than likely wanting to collaborate with you whenever our geography and schedule permit.

My Top 12 Friends are all models I have worked with and since I have been shooting models for many years not all are on MM or still active. BTW the oldest photo on this portfolio was taken over 30 years ago she was a High School Senior at the time. See if you can guess which one ( don’t go by date posted)
All Work By Appointment.
