I was an avid portrait/figure painter/artist for more than 20 years at workshops everywhere, local life drawing classes, and at my studio - until COVID came along. Now everything seems to be shut down. Turned to photography for another visual, creative outlet. Now it's all I think about. I've been shooting mainly outdoors, location shoots, with off camera flash. Love high speed synch and shooting wide open, with interesting backgrounds, but the center of interest, of course, is always the model.
Drawing/painting and photography have much in common, of course. Both are about seeing things. Simplifying, abstracting, and perceiving shapes are a primary part of both.
