I am a professional artist primarily interested in using photographs as source material for paintings.

In future projects I will be working on photographs that evoke the chiaroscuro light/shadow of baroque painting (i.e. Caravaggio) and the subtle light effects of grand manner portraiture (i.e. Sargent). I am also interested in creating dramatic light/shadow images reminiscent of mid-century illustrators (i.e. Mead Schaeffer). Photographic influences are Penn, Horst, Steichen, Coburn Hurrell, Beaton, etc.

I shoot with vintage cameras, on film: medium format on Rolleiflex, 35mm on Pentax, large format on Crown Graphic, and stereo on David White Stereo Realist. See examples of the work on these cameras in my album.
