I am a San Diego-based visual artist/ photographer/ filmmaker and writer who delights in creating striking and provocative images primarily in photo-based artworks.

In February 2008, I had my first solo photography exhibition at Spacecraft gallery, and my artwork, photography and award-winning short films have been shown in several exhibitions and international film festivals. And I am seeking to expand my portfolio by working and collaborating with adventurous, aspiring and experienced models in the San Diego area.

Much of my early work - in photography and film - dealt with elements of surrealism and bizarre encounters juxtaposed with the everyday. I've also done concert photography in the past.

Currently, I'm deveoping a new body of work using primarily plastic Holga and Diana medium-format cameras. These cameras create moody, atmospheric images that challenge me to think outside of the box when I am looking through the viewfinder.

I'm interested in exploring the possibilities of creating images based on projected images on the human figure, and photographing the results. I would also like to experiment with some fashion and artistic nudes to expand my portfolio (see samples for a better idea of my evolving style).

However, I don't use digital cameras. I'm "old school" when it comes to fine-art photography and I prefer to shoot on film and print my mostly black-and-white images in the darkroom. I also teach art and photography part-time at several San Diego-area colleges where I impart this aesthetic choice to my students.

My current Holga/ Diana-generated photographic imagery always yields surprises and happy accidents, which I love. My ongoing goal is to explore my creativity regardless of the meduim.

Although I can't pay, I can trade my fine-art prints based on select images generated during a photo shoot for the experience of collaborating with creative, risk-taking models who share similar interests, artistic passions, and a willingness to push the envelope in order to make compelling art. I want to work with models who are confident and eager to try something new and who are willing to share and bounce ideas (using their own wardrobe and tenacity to work) in the search for quality, unique imagery.
