About Me

Welcome to my profile. No animals were harmed during its production. Although I believe I was eating a cheeseburger while writing it. I in no way harmed that animal as it was already dead way before we met. I’ve been shooting since 1972 when mom bought me a Kodak 110 camera. The first photo that I ever took was of President Nixon while he was visiting Camp Pendleton CA.  I still have that photo and cherish it.  During high school I decided to learn all the technical stuff surrounding photography so I stumbled into Mr. Palacheks photography class where I was eventually kicked out for smoking in the dark room (it wasn't me). So, I continued learning on my own. Photography books from the library and even manuals from various cameras is where I started and managed to pick up a lot of how to's and why's. I managed to catch on fairly quick (because I'm so damn gifted... cough cough).  I bought my first “Significant” camera from the PX at Ft. Knox Kentucky in 1985 while stationed there in the Army. Later I did the New York Institute of Photography thing which was pretty cool. A lot of light bulbs went off while studying that course.  In 2000 something I applied for a freelance photojournalist position at a local paper here in San Diego (North County Times) and I was given a chance to go “Pro”. I was able to follow along with the staff PJ's and pick their brains and watch their different styles. It was an incredible opportunity and one that you could not put a price on.  Since that time I’ve managed to hold my own and become pretty damn good at what I do. I now run a company called The Image Group Photography and it does quite well. I've put countless front page photos in my portfolio from newspapers all across the US along with several published photos in Sports Illustrated, Time, People and all sorts of other publications nationally and internationally. I eventually drifted toward the fashion industry like a moth to light being fascinated with the skills set it takes to flourish here. I admit I still have a bit of room for improvement but, don't we all. I’m always open for suggestions, tips and of course WORK so if you have any… please feel free to contact me. Thanks for reading my boring profile and again no animals were harmed during it’s production… except another cheeseburger from the already dead before I met it animal!
