Photographer who used to shoot more fine art, not just glam, but got corrupted by digital - now have to worry about carpal tunnel from working at the damn computer, instead of the old hazard of asphyxiation from fixer fumes.  Love to shoot interesting looking women.  And the landscape around us.

Sad news in February 2010:  My friend Mathias Oppersdorf passed away recently.  The staff photographer at Gourmet magazine for 17 years, Mathias had retired to his home in South County, Rhode Island and was using a pinhole camera to make fine art nudes of the female form.  Eschewing digital cameras, he stuck to film.  He also used a view camera on occasion and one of my regrets - why does one always have regrets after the fact - is not using my 4x5 view camera on a joint shoot with him.  Mathias and I had great plans to photograph Carly Erin on Block Island in 2009, but the horrible weather of May and June did us in and we restricted our shoot to the mainland and working on some local farms.  Several of my images of Carly from that shoot I've posted in a tribute to Mathias.  Late last summer, he and I did another joint shoot with Danielle Trixie and Nikki Sebastian on one of the farms.  I will post some of those.  Mathias' beloved red VW will feature!  Sad to think that 2010 will not mean we three make it to Block Island.  Carly and I are planning to take his spirit with us when we finally get there later this year.  Mathias was a generous, sweet man - he taught me, encouraged me and I am a better photographer for it.
