March 31, 2009 1:37pm I greatly appreciate any constructive feed back from anyone. Like or dislike it always the confrontation between our points of view and the perceived message as the viewer. As a maker, I designed the image with one approach but it may or not share by others. Controversial is always around the corner when you mix elements that are sensitive to a potential observer. I respect everyone point of view but I won't limited myself to create a body of work just because the other see it different of what I intended.
However, I enjoy listening others points of view and taking the challenge against today apathy to express their most personal feeling.
Allow me, however, to define my reading on this image:
I see a human (or country) challenging against the odds to fight with all his muscles to conquer the space ahead. No step back. Afraid of nothing. Going for everything. Unstoppable.
It action is clearly to bring the flag as a proud shield and holding it with energy.
I don't see any negative connotation against the symbol.
Again. It is all about perception but it is a good medicine to contrast ours against others and see how wrong we could be.
It is up to us.
One thing is for sure, we could always learn that no matter what we will never be right 100%.
March 31, 2009 12:44pm Hmmm interesting feedback. I think that the photo should be looked at as a work of art - like it or not, and I am not sure that this single series of images reflects all that is Peter (the model) any more than any of his other images with other photographers.
I think it is an interesting and disturbing image but I don't bring to it any idea of hatred for the US or the US flag.
After all, isn't art supposed to create emotion - good, bad or indifferent? If we all made happy or sexy pictures ONLY, then it might get a bit boring.
March 31, 2009 12:27pm Even though it is pointed for a special emotion, I don't like it. It conveys anger and that is not a pleasane emotion. Is it anger against America as symbolizedby the flag? Not the Peter I thought I knew.
