January 18, 2010 8:56am Stylishly enigmatic and curiously sinister. There seems to be a lot of implied "cutting" going on here, the slatted blinds chopping up the natural light into bands of light and shadow, and the shadowed border chopping the whole scene (and your face) into a small area, leaving everything outside the boundary for us to interpret ourselves. Even your full expression is hard to judge, appearing alternately serene and happy, or ironic, or even malicious depending on how one looks at it and chooses to complete it. This conjures a strong impression of duality and repression, the whole person and the whole of experience cut off and marginalised, although we continue to imagine their shadowy presence (perhaps with undue fear of the unknown).
