Freelance Make Up Artist Holly Hanrahan has been taking the fashion and wedding industry by storm with her unique flair and passion for all that is make up!
She was first inspired to become a make up artist after modelling for a make up artists portfolio herself when she was eighteen. She could not believe the immense transformation that make up had the power to create! She set about landing her dream job as a mac artist, which she did, and from there she gained a wealth of experience regarding all aspects of make up including products, product ingredients, tools, techniques, trends, face shapes, eye shapes, colour theory, hygiene and a whole lot of practical experience too!

Holly decided to go freelance and set up her own make up business called Absolutely Flawless four years ago. Since then, she has worked with over 300 brides and worked on numerous photoshoots including glamour shoots, portrait shoots, model portfolio's and fashion shoots. She also teaches the art of make up to groups or individuals who want to learn how to achieve the looks they see in all the magazines.

However, with all these years of experience, Holly is still as passionate as ever about make up and it's magical powers! She still regularly attends London Mac masterclasses herself for pro artists to keep up to date with any new products, trends or techniques.

"The magic of make up is that there are no rules! I love to expel the myths that magazines put out there and regulary use products for one part of the face on another, for example, I used a matt red lipstick with a stipple brush over foundation on the cheek to make a cream blush and it looked beautiful, just the stained look i was after for this particular shoot! Make up can transform you, it can enhance you, it can disguise you! There ar no limits to my imagination when it comes to make up but also the sheer beauty of a face can sometimes be exposed by what you do not apply, and a good make up artist will instinctively know that" says Holly. " I often get asked what is in fashion for make up right now and there is never an answer for that really. Make up for me is a great tool to tailor and marry your look together. Look around at fashion in the shops and listen to the music of the moment and their videos and you will see lots of different themes running through. There is a huge vintage revival back right now both in fashion and music so I am loving a swish of black liner, with lashes and a matt block colour on the lip, my favourite this week is tomato red! I love how its precision look has taken over from the smokey eye this season! I must admit, I am veering away from sparkles, glitter and metallic trends and using more matt products on myself, brides and shoots but I'm sure there will be some glitz brought out for the christmas party looks!"

Bridal Make Up is still a speciality of Holly's and she is in big demand with bookings being taken for 2012 at the moment. She offers a trial service where the bride and herself discuss and try out the style of make up desired to create the perfect bridal look to suit the individual. She then goes out to the bride on the day and also does make up for all the bridemaids and the mothers too. "There is nothing more rewarding than being part of someones wedding day transformation, it is always a privelage to be part of that special process".
