About Me

A Self-taught photographer through reading books, attending numerous workshops, stalking photography forums, patiently learning from the masters of the trade and watching countless online videos.

“Because I strongly believe that photography is a visual art, and often it is easier to learn by watching and observing than reading“

In 1992, out of curiosity, Loey started learning Corel Draw 2.0, and that’s all he needed to jump start his interest in creating art, desktop publishing, and eventually with the advent of Photoshop, image enhancement and manipulation.

“I am a photographer and photoshopper! BUT that doesn’t mean I don’t make it right with and in my camera!”

More than a decade since Loey picked-up an old Pentax Film Camera and started shooting, he still considers himself an apprentice when it comes to photography.

“Two quotes of famous photographers that I live by in my photography?”

“Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst”  – by Henri Cartier-Bresson (he help developed the street photography or life reportage style and is considered to be the father of photojournalism.)
“Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop” – by Ansel Adams (his iconic black and white images helped to establish photography among the fine arts.)
Based in Manhattan , NY, Loey works for the United Nations, News and Media Division’s Photo Unit as a Photographer and Photo Lab Technician/Editor.
