About Me

Will D. Tullis has operated Tullis Photography in Augusta, Georgia, since receiving his degree in photography from North Georgia Tech in 1969.  He has worked with two of the largest studios in the Augusta area and while working with Frank Christian Studio, was one of the staff photographers recording the Masters Golf tournament for several years.  His photographs from this assignment appeared in several books and articles on the Masters.  (See dedication page of “Augusta National & the Masters,” by Frank Christian, ISBN –1-886947-11-2.)

While a staff medical photographer at the VA Medical Center in Augusta for 35 years until his recent retirement he has also operated Tullis Photography, specializing in the photography of models, beauty queens, and actors.  His headshots are widely renowned to be some of the best in the South due to his proficiency with lighting and unique photographic techniques.  This, combined with his employing only the most talented makeup artists and hairdressers, eliminates much of the need for photo retouching.

Will is co-founder of the Destin Beach Photographic Workshop in Florida, an annual event since 1986, teaching classes on glamour and beauty photography in the sea-side and beach environment.  He currently teaches Digital Photography at Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, in Augusta, Georgia, and also returns to North Georgia Tech as a guest lecturer a few times a year and is involved with planning workshops and teaching classes during the Augusta Photography Festival.

Will continues his never-ending photo education by attending seminars and classes on glamour photography, lighting, posing and computer enhancement throughout the U.S.  He feels that his photo education is an ever-evolving process that continues with his study of new techniques and styles.

Will is using his vast knowledge to help aspiring models and photographers to improve their portfolio, modeling skills, and photographic knowledge. His philosophy is that if you can teach photographers to shoot models, you can teach models how to pose.  Models need to be able to repeat proven poses time and time again and not rely on the photographer to pose them. The finished product needs to be the model’s unique photo, not the photographer’s.
