Lance K Phromnopavong was born literally in front of a sewing machine; on December 19th, 1978, his mother's water broke while she was at a sewing machine working in Portland, Oregon. In early 2004 after coming home from living with family in Thailand for a year, Lance discovered sewing patterns in his uncle's garage that belonged to his late aunt and fashion designer Kim Khim. The discovery further fueled Lance's obsession for fashion because his aunt had taught him everything she knew about fashion before her death in 1989. Lance Phromnopavong was about to be born again in front of a sewing machine.

Lance Phromnopavong received a Bachelors of Fine Arts- majoring in Fashion Design- from The International Academy of Design & Technology in Seattle, Washington during 2009. Phromnopavong then worked as an intern for Carole McClellan Design for the following year. Additionally, he held the position of Design Assistant at Neodandi House of Couture for one year after earning his degree. After hand cutting and crafting 180 yards of bias tape for Carole and gaining a knowledge of self at Neodandi, Lance Phromnopavong made the decision to pursue his own entrepreneur mindset and creative voice by going underground.Lance Phromnopavong started his own company, perfekttension.com.

Being influenced from early childhood living in Los Angels in the 80’s, to the modern street scene in Portland and Seattle, Lance Phromnopavong has always had a fascination for graffiti and bursts of emerging subcultures. The way Phromnopavong conceptualizes fashion and design today is evident by his choice to utilize rich textiles and truly innovative constructions that can be seen as inspirational.
