In my work, I always find a piece of myself. It is one of my favorite
discoveries as I am always searching for the missing puzzle pieces of "me". My
other fascination is how this "thing we call life" brings about unique emotions
and stories to tell that I get to capture in my films.
My photographs will sometimes center around nature, or the angles and history
of architecture, or even the life and circumstance of people. Regardless, I
always find that I don't choose the moment, but the moment chooses me. I like to
think that I mirror Robert Mappelthorp and Annie Leibovitz in that way. Nature offers me the chance to explore with slide film and color. Some of my
favorite moments outdoors include rainfall, dusk, the dark of night and the dawn
of the day. I am always motivated to capture texture and movement in my film. I
find that I love the city of New Orleans because of the mystery and beauty that
it offers me. I am not afraid to capture vulnerability and grief in a person. In
fact, I find that I can make those moments have magnificence. I am at my best
at capturing the unexpected moments in life. I am known to get fixated on something and capture many versions of the same
image. I have a collection of covered bridges in adjacent states. I frequently
compare mountains from coast to coast. I love the juxtaposition of Winter meets
Spring when the ice forms around a fresh flower. I am captivated by the human
body and enjoy finding ways to show the beauty.
There are great photographs waiting to be found everywhere and I want to find
them.
