About Me

Hello

My name is Jesse, I’m a Painter and Digital Artist. My education consists of BFA (honours) in Fine Arts from Queen’s university and a degree in Computer Animation from Sheridan College.  Since graduation I’ve worked freelance for Feature Films, Television, and a ‘cinematic” for a video game by Electronic Arts.  Most recently, I’ve moved back to Toronto after working in Los Angeles for a year on Mel Brook’s “SpaceBalls:  The Animated Series”.
Currently, I’m looking for models as reference for some Fine Art projects I’m putting together in-between CGI contracts.  The first, involves old-fashioned oil paintings, however the second is a 3D installation project I’m very excited about.  The later would need models to serve as sculptural reference for digital characters that would be textured and rendered photo-realistic (think of the movies Beowulf or Final Fantasy) and be incorporated in digital cinematic scenarios . The artworks would be either projected, or displayed on flat screen televisions in galleries.  The effect would ideally be similar to Baroque wall paintings; creating a window to a surreal, yet uncannily perfect, otherworldly space.  For this project I would much prefer collaborating artists as opposed to professional models per say. Further, I would be much more interested in contrasting archetypal personas rather than what would be considered the generic model “look”.

The work itself will consist of academic life-modeling sessions at my loft studio. The only mediums I will use are oil and pencil.  Because the work is to provide the best sculptural reference possible; nude would be ideal, but by no mean absolutely necessary. I’ve used non-models, such as professional dancers and actors, in the past in leotards or swimsuits with excellent results. Further, I would never depict models fully nude in artwork that without consent. Moreover, any nude modeling would be compensated regardless of experience. The comfort of models is my primary concern, beyond any personal morality, in my experience models need to be totally comfortable to provide the best reference. Moreover, modeling sessions would never be one on one; other model with experience working with myself in the past will be present.
Furthermore, with one exception there will never be any photographs taken. If you are interested in being involved in the 3D installation project, some “T-Pose” photos will be necessary for sculpture and texture.  Basically, you stand in front of an opaque surface with your arms out straight then photographed in a front, back, and profile pose.  However, if you are posing for a non-nude character, it goes without saying you will not need to be nude; in fact it would be ideal you are closest to final costume as possible.  Regardless, any reference photos would be strictly confidential.

Contact me if you have any further question or concerns.
