I've been passionate about photography all my life and did my formal training at the University of Auckland's Elam School of Fine Arts. My work spans a variety of interests from documentary through portraiture and the nude and has been exhibited in New Zealand and overseas. In this portfolio I have mainly featured my male nudes, predominantly environmental portraiture taken with available light, along with some studio work.

These nudes are what I like to call "naked portraits", in which I try to convey a sense of rapport and connection with the person I am photographing. All my work is an exploration of identity, and the focus of my nudes is on seeing and being seen as a naked, embodied, sexual being. I try to convey to the viewer the sense that the person photographed is someone that they have known, so that the anonymous stranger suddenly becomes intimate, defiant or vulnerable, reticent or engaging, but always fully present.

I enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and with different levels of experience in being photographed, from experienced models to those who might never have posed for the camera in anything other than casual snapshots.
