My name is Bret Thompsett, I am originally from South Africa. I have been a professional photographer since the age of 19, having worked in the News and Sports magazine industries in my home town of CapeTown. I moved to London, UK in 2001 and became a papparazzo, it seemed glamorous at the time and allowed me to work on my own projects, in 2004 I moved to Los Angeles and continued to photograph celebrities. Slowly but surely this job killed me as a person and a creative artist. In 2010 I quit the unromantic and dirty work of being a 'Pap' and am continuing my career as a true creative photographer. I specialize in available light, backlit lifestyle photography, I enjoy having creative freedom and playing with new ideas. I am always learning new techniques and push myself out of my comfort zone. Portraiture, Underwater and Lifestyle/Fashion is where I'm at right now.
