Lights. Camera. Action. She’s on. Tasha Smith’s on track for national stardom, but she’s already one of Kansas City’s local celebs and favorite personalities. Probably most recognized today as Rochae Bastillion, a leading character in Unreal Housewives of Kansas City. Wildly popular, it’s a Midwest Emmy nominated (scratch that! Midwest Emmy WINNING), web sitcom. Episodes are even accessible through mobile phones. Her resume has a long list of gigs from film, local and regional commercials and in modeling appearances.

Tasha first caught the acting bug about five years ago. She’s a natural at her craft, but her entry into this field was accidental. She started out modeling, but with few gigs coming her way, in 2001 her agent suggested taking acting classes. Within a year of taking classes, she already gets acting requests.

While most of us get caught up in the celebrity appeal that generally attached with acting, Tasha is quick to point out it’s real work. “Acting is a job. It’s harder than you think to learn the lines, and get in character.” Luckily, it’s something she enjoys and it fits her charismatic personality.

Though she’s outgoing on camera, Tasha acknowledges, in a typical crowd, speaking in front of people, she actually gets nervous. However, turn on the camera, she works through the nerves to the thrill of the moment and it is pure magic.

With a seemingly total package, looks and personality, is she ready to leave the KC nest? Maybe. But Tasha is taking her time. With insight from friends in L.A. who have had it rough, she’s decided to buckle down in the hometown, develop a strong portfolio and make a name for herself.

What’s next? She continues her work on the Unreal Housewives of Kansas City and that show has a lot of promise for television broadcast, so stay tuned. She’s also one of the MC’s for the new iGNITE Live show, KC’s new urban talk show.

Beyond acting, Tasha is really down to the earth. You might find her at Worlds of Fun, the movies or maxin' in a jazz lounge. She claims to even know how to cook. “You know they say don’t trust a skinny cook. Well, you can trust me, she says. And fellas, if she’s got it like that I know what you want to know. And yeah, she’s single. When describing her ideal mate, she is looking for the wholesome all around good man. “I’d like someone similar to my dad. He’s hardworking, church going and has been married 44 years to my mom”. Fun and attractive are other qualities she likes, but as she states, “The most important thing is how he treats me. I want him to love me as much as I love him.”

We wish Tasha the best in all her endeavors, and to us she encourages us to take advantage of life and all it’s potential through one of her favorite quotes. “Live your dreams. If you don’t, someone else will.”
