About Me

My love for makeup started out when I was my mother's assistant for Mary Kay makeup parties. That's when I realized how much of a difference eyeshadow makes. As the years went by I became a "makeup junkie" and began researching various companies and purchasing bits and pieces of makeup here and there. I began working at Ulta as something fun to do on the side. Shortly after I started I was put in their "prestige" department, which consists of various high end makeup (Smashbox, Urban Decay, Elizabeth Arden, Stila, Benefit, Cargo, Too Faced, Bare Escentuals, etc.), and began training on makeup application. Applying makeup on customers opened a new world for me and made me realize that I wanted to do more than just work at Ulta; I wanted to become a full blown makeup artist. I began buying various makeup books (Kevyn Aucoin, Bobbi Brown, etc.) and going on websites to get product knowledge. From there I decided that I wanted to go to school and learn from professional makeup artists that are in the various industries. I found Faces Etc. of Minnesota and enrolled immediately. I finished in August. I have branched out and worked with modeling agencies for models comp cards and I worked on a film called Prodigal that's currently in post-production. I am hoping to expand into wedding makeup and work with more modeling agencies as well as get into more film/tv. My ultimate goal is to become a full-time freelance makeup artist. I joined Model Mayhem to network with other people in the industry. I would also like the chance to work with models in the community to build up my portfolio.
