Born and raised in a small village in Canada’s Atlantic province of New-Brunswick, Lea Lisa Lurette first studies Arts & French Literature before relocating to Montreal to pursue her childhood passion, costume conception and creation. Seizing the opportunity to excel, Lea Lisa graduates with top marks from Lasalle College in Costume Design and immediately jumps into the industry with both feet. She dabbles in artistic fashion, costumes, and works on a variety of projects, fashion shows and contests. Soon her reputation for detail and attention to precision and quality allow her to secure a prestigious position in the workshops of the world-famous Cirque du Soleil, where Lea Lisa gains valuable experience in the hat/wig-making department.

Lea Lisa decides to strike out on her own in 2007, using her considerable experience and knowledge of the craft to focus on her own creations and artistic projects. She collaborates on many theatrical productions for the National Theatre School of Canada. She also produces a number of original pieces, among them a vast catalogue of costumes for sports entertainment professionals and professional dancers, over a dozen short films, music videos and other similar collaborations. Lea Lisa continues to experiment in a vast array of artistic mediums and is now developing several new projects for the coming year that will expand her already impressive portfolio.

Lea Lisa’s main influences can be found in nature, culture, travel, music, art, and film. Her style could be described as a sophisticated mélange of vintage couture, post-modern design, and Alice in Wonderland colliding organically with the subtle wonders of nature and the mystique of Atlantic folklore. Lea Lisa is passionate about unique fabrics, particularly ones with unconventional patterns. She enjoys exploring her favorite costume periods while never restricting herself to them, and often bringing a darker or more playful perspective to her creations, sometimes giving way to more peculiar forms of beauty. Lea Lisa seeks to create thought-provoking, paradigm-defying combinations that flirt with the surreal while still remaining grounded and complex. She understands the subtleties of patternmaking, sewing, and design and welcomes any opportunity to showcase her imagination.
