About Me

Comedian/Actor LaVelle LaRue combines his natural comedic timing with his military training to create one unstoppable force.

This Los Angeles area native was practically born a performer, always looking for an audience to entertain. With an innate ability to make people laugh, he started his acting career in comedy projects, most notably landing a recurring special feature role on the television show “Moesha,”along with several indie films.

He always dreamt of being an ‘action hero’and literally made that a reality when he took a break from his acting career to join the military. LaVelle enlisted in the Army and served his country as an 82nd Air Borne Ranger, which took him to Iraq for two tours of duty. After being shot in the face and chest, he made the decision to leave the Army, but took with him their belief that a strong work ethic is the key to success.

Never losing his passion for acting, he headed back to Hollywood to pursue his career. But, weighing over 300 pounds and getting type-cast as the ‘sidekick’guy, he was feeling his ‘action hero’dream slip away. It was then that he made the decision to change his life, focusing on his health and losing over 150 pounds. Not only was this a physical transformation, but it also gave him a whole new perspective about achieving his goals.

With a new body and a refreshed attitude, LaVelle is off and running. Currently, he is slated to star in two upcoming indie films, “Dead Sea”and “Star Capers.”In addition, he is in pre-production on two films that he also wrote, including “Dead Wait,”based on his own experience overcoming Combat PTSD, an eating disorder, and weighing over 300 pounds.

And, coming soon, LaVelle will be launching his first standup comedy DVD entitled “I’m So Bad”this Summer.
