I retired (Jan 31, 2013) from the Art Dept. at UT (Printmaking) and also own Slugfest, an independent cooperative printmaking workshop/gallery on the eastside where we have life drawing sessions every Sunday from 2-5PM. It's a small group of 4-7 artists, mostly women.
We have had several models who flaked out and simply didn't show up, didn't call, didn't cancel. So in an attempt to find a few more reliable professional models , I googled "artists models Austin TX" which led to modelmayhem.com. Although this site seems to be more for photography/fashion , it appears there are a few artists models out there.

It has been our experience that dancers, yoga practitioners, massage therapists etc. are often good models because:
a. they are comfortable with their own bodies
b. they are aware of how their poses look to the people drawing them
c. they are focused and strong enough to hold a pose for up to 30 minutes

We usually start with 3-20 min. poses then a short break followed by 3-20 min poses/break, and finally 1-20 or 30 min pose. The going rate for life drawing models in Austin is $20/hour ie. $60 for the Sunday afternoon 3 hr. session, which we pay in cash.

If you are interested in being an artist's model, please let us know. No doubt you are aware that there could be no better way to spend your Sundays afternoons than standing, sitting and lying around motionless and naked being intently stared at by 5-7 complete strangers. Just kidding, We realize it's not for everyone, but GOOD RELIABLE artist's models are uncommonly scarce.
