About Me

Several months back I rebooted my portfolio here on Model Mayhem. The intent is to give a quick idea of my work. If you have any questions, or if you'd like to discuss working together, just send me a message. I'd love to hear from you.

Every model gets paid. If you want samples for your portfolio then I’m happy to oblige, but as a general rule I don’t do TFP shoots. I pay my models. In my experience, it works better. I want you to bring your personality to the shoot and make our work together collaborative, but ultimately we're creating photographs and I'm the photographer, which puts most of the responsibility on me. This means that you get paid.

For me, portraiture is fun and challenging. I grew up in the Midwestern United States, and even surrounded by those beautiful landscapes I was fascinated by depicting individual personality on film. I was more interested in shooting my two younger siblings than the sunsets. It's why I moved to the city. Photographing people is something you have to love if you’re going to do it well. It’s a puzzle, figuring out how to capture each new person differently. I love the conversation that occurs between a model and the camera. I want to place a model in a space that tells a story, and capture that.

I went to film school and I'm serious about technique, but photography should be fun. Every shoot should be relaxed, light-hearted, and we should have fun together. If you’re trying too hard, it will show up in the photos. If you’re having a good time, then the photography will take care of itself. If you agree—and remember, you’re getting PAID to have fun, ha!—then send me a message on here and let’s see about working together!
