Nathaniel C. Shannon is a seasoned editorial and illustrative photographer specializing in photographing moving subjects. Born in Ypsilanti MI. Nathaniel cut his teeth photographing various music subcultures around Detroit, MI. 2008 moved him to New York to finish his BFA at the School of Visual Arts. He has produced several solo shows, “While the others were sleeping” live music photography, “Immortal Until Death”, a collection of cemetery landscapes and portraits, and “The Detroit Community Golf Course”, a visual narrative addressing the faux gentrification of Detroit. Nathaniel is the co-creator of the “Still Screaming Show”, along side photographers Mark Beamer and Michael Dubin showcasing an archive of their live music photography. His humanist work deals with juxtapositions and underlying themes of fantastical improbability, ignited by a spark of vulnerability in those he photographs, be it conceptual illustration, or social documentation. “We are all suspects”, Nathaniel stated in reference to this connection we all share, “everyone is a model, everyone has a face and story they hide behind.”
