I am very pleased to announce three of my photos were selected for publication in the recent Capture Kern County contest. About 22,000 photos were submitted by more than 1,000 photographers. A little over 150 photos were selected for publication. One of my landscapes received a full page in the book and two portraits were included.

So far, the images I have posted here on MM are pretty conventional. I want to move on. I am more than willing to shoot whatever look you want for your port, but I will only do so in trade for shots I need for my projects.

I want to transition my photography to projects that I have been planning for a long time. In the art world, I am especially interested in surrealism and impressionism. Think of paintings by Dali, Picasso and the French impressionists. Think of blending stark or dramatic landscapes with beautiful images of people. Such images require patience, cooperation, shared interest and some luck (weather and lighting conditions).

As with most things I do, my goals as a photographer are very high. I am on MM to meet people that share my passion. I am searching for people who have their own artistic sensibilities, who can work collaboratively and be strong contributors to the creative process. I want to work with people that will challenge me and I want to keep learning. If this sounds right to you, please contact me and lets discuss ideas.

Since I am looking for models that share my passion for creating something new, I prefer models that will work TF. As in the past, I will cover all expenses related to the shoot, travel, meals, incidentals, etc.

Please recognize that my pursuit of this hobby almost always means taking time away from my day job as a self employed consultant. In my world, time is too precious to waste. That does not mean I spend all my time frantically "doing something." Slowing down to savor a moment, considering options and potentialities, taking time to think through a shot, before clicking the shutter, are all very valuable to me.

If we are going to collaborate, please keep the following in mind:

COMMUNICATION IS KEY. If life imposes the need to change a shooting date, I understand. Life happens. But please give me reasonable notice so I have time to adjust my schedule to do something else.

DON'T BE IN A HURRY. I prefer to meet a model for coffee, lunch or a glass of wine a few days before our first shoot. I think it is important for us to understand each other's goals, outlook, limitations, shooting options and most importantly, so we can learn to relax with one another. It is not unusual for me to spend four or more hours with a model on a single shoot. If you are too busy to dedicate a reasonable amount of time, or if the shoot feels rushed because you are thinking about what you are going to do next, it will show in the photographs and I will not be interested in working with you.

I WILL RESPECT YOU, PLEASE RESPECT ME. We both need to keep in mind that outstanding photos don't just happen on thier own. We both need to be prepared. We both need to be open, honest and collaborative to achieve the best results.

I hope the above doesn't sound too strict and disciplined. After all, I am doing this as a hobby and I want to have FUN. I just don't want either of us to waste our time.
