About Me

Fashion has always held my attention above so many other ’hobbies’ in my life. As a child, academia didn’t come easy to me. I found it difficult to connect to my peers in classes and in the playground; whilst the boys were kicking a ball about, and the girls were playing with their hair and ponies, I was always off in a dream world of my own. Fashion is definitely a form of escapism for me.

I was obsessed with images of Annie Lennox and Grace Jones. I was one of those little boys who liked to play with dolls, but was never quite satisfied with the garments they came with so I’d copy the wardrobes of Cruella De Ville and try to emulate the grand styling of Mugler, Montana and Gaultier. This was my way of ’getting away’ as a child.

My own personal design approach lends greatly from menswear. I love the idea of giving women the ability to stand with strong elegance and femininity , yet with the confidence and power which is so evidently shown by men. Taking inspiration from menswear cut and silhouettes, then re-moulding them into elegant, sexy attire is what I strive to achieve. My philosophy is that pure, clean, sharp cut can change everything. Skilful cutting creates phenomenal style.

Although it isn’t a family business, many of my family members worked within the Fashion Industry. My great aunts, on my mother’s side, were chief designers and pattern cutters to the late Edward Molyneux. My mother was fashion editor on an 80’s magazine called Love Affair and she also worked as a sub editor at Menswear magazine, sister title of today’s Drapers, when it was called Drapers Record. Fashion, it seems, is in my blood!
