That's me, David Schumacher, aka Rusty Sterling. My real name is David Schumacher but I've gone by Rusty Sterling for more than 20 years as a musician. I'm a former photojournalist with 15 years experience in that field.

I've been away from shooting for awhile but I've been active again for the last few years. I've been attending various workshops, particularly for visualization, modeling and lighting.

I'm a pretty traditional shooter but I'm eager to move beyond that and break out of the box. I'm looking to expand my artistic side and hope to do more concept shooting in the future.

I have pro lights, props, and backgrounds. I also work sometimes with a female photographer friend of mine, Eileen Bauer (MM #1353323), in studio and on location.

I also do still lifes, portraits and landscapes. I'm shooting for the love of it and as my art -- nonetheless I'm still a pro photographer.

I've had photos win several prizes over the last year in particular. This is one of my more whimsical prize winning still life shots:

My pride and joy was a blue ribbon for Color Portraits at the San Mateo County Fair 2009 with this portrait of a friend of mine:

It was because of the above shot that I started wanting to work with other people and expanding how I shoot. I would love to work with some local models for TFP or TFCD to help us both build our portfolios.

You can find most of my stuff right now on Flickr (under Rusty Sterling). I do have a website but right now it is for my band, Rusty Sterling & Friends. But the band is ending in December and the website will become my photo site and blog early in 2010. I'll post that link when it changes to photography.
