About Me

Instagram: @jackwegener.analogphotographer

In the early 1970s I began photographing women while in college earning a B.A. degree in English. In 1975 I turned professional as a photographer specializing in the photography of women. I’m the person who introduced the boudoir and artistic nude genres to the Savannah area in the 1970s. I offered my services to the public while simultaneously building a body of work with mostly female models as my fine art subjects for art gallery exhibitions. I also introduced hand-colored nude and handcolored portraiture to this region. Even before social media, I’ve always maintained a low profile with sparse advertising or promotion.

As a proponent of traditional fine art photography, I still work exclusively with film and do all film processing and print making by hand in a wet-process darkroom. All of my hand-colored prints are created solely by me on fiber base black-and-white paper that I also print individually in my darkroom. No two hand-colored photographs are ever exactly alike. My photographs have been exhibited in art galleries and national photography print magazines since the 1970s.

My website contains much information about myself and the history of my work. It displays hundreds of black-and-white, sepia, and hand-colored photographs of women, couples, and men spanning fifty years of professional art photography. All images are flatbed scans of actual photographs I printed by hand.

"Jack made my very first performer headshot, and the session was one filled with creative ideas, and great productive energy. Later I was fortunate to work further with him as a model in several inspiring and engaging sessions with others." Read less
