Friends (12)About Me
The five foot eight model that youâve seen rip the runways across DC is so much more than a pretty face with long limbs. Turns out the girls got talent and lots of it. Sheâs is headed straight to the top and is willing to actually work hard to get there. Barbie has been in the spotlight since before she could spell her name. âMy parents always told me that when I was younger I loved to put on a show, I had no fear whatsoever, didnât care who was watching or who was listening, I just had to be the center of attention.â
This PG County, Maryland native had her eye on the prize at the tender age of three. âPeople would always ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up and my answer was always the same, a star.â She began singing in her churchâs childrenâs choir and says âI believe thatâs when I fell in love with musicâ. As she grew older her vocal skills strengthened and progressed, she joined her elementary school choir and was sought after to join PG Countyâs Honors Chorus. At the age of ten she began following in her fatherâs footsteps by showing an interest in writing. In between rehearsals and performances she found time to write short stories in which she was recognized for as well as songs and poetry. âI listened to the radio A LOT, I taught myself how to compose music based on what I heard, and I used my emotions and experiences to write. The more I wrote the better I got.â At the age of fifteen Barbie began attending Barbizon an international modeling school and at the age of eighteen after the birth of her son Miycah Adoniz she competed in IMTA 2006 NY where she signed with LM Modeling Agency in Baltimore MD. âI booked a lot of gigs through my agency, but I also had a lot of success on my own. I knew that I was much more than an email submission, so I decided to leave my agency in search of exclusive management.â She has made a name for herself in the DC area hosting events, participating in runway shows and building her portfolio by working with editorial photographers, designers and promoters. âI focused mainly on my modeling career for awhile and although I hadnât sung publically in a while, I kept writing, mainly for myself.â God has blessed me with so many talents, I want to be successful in all aspects of the industry, I love what I do and you can't put a price on that. With prayer, hard work, and determination I'll get there" I had heard about model mayhem before but never joined until i met a fellow mayhemer :) In this industry one can never have too much networking and exposure. I'm a hard working woman and I've always been trained to follow through with my dreams even when they seem unreachable.. a little rejection never hurt anyone and unlike most i keep coming back, you'll get tired of seeing me at some point ;) Verified Credits (0)Worked with Barbie Jones?
