About the Art: Jamie says:

"The clothes that we wear are a type of sculpture or even architecture... But they have become necessarily dumbed-down in order for us to perform our daily activities. I am interested in questioning social expectations about clothing, and often do so through the type of art objects that I create.

"€œMost people don't consider secondary uses for the things they throw away every day, like plastic containers, broken tools, or even old clothes. But we can do something with our refuse besides bury it in dumps and forget about how it toxifies our environment.

"€œI rescue a lot of junk, and it all has to be cleaned up and dismantled in some way to begin its transformation. Usually, the form that these objects take makes them unrecognizable as they become part of something new.

"€œI love the problem solving--the engineering--challenges. Every piece presents a unique puzzle to be worked out during its change from useless trash to beautiful curio. The end result is really satisfying.
