About Me

Julian de Hauteclocque Howe is a child of Asia. Born in Kobe, Japan, he attended primary school in Hong Kong, and spent his holidays traveling the Far East with his banker father, and anthropologist mother. Being a Western face in Asian surroundings, created a keen awareness of the cultural contrasts between the East and the West, which is constantly ex-pressed in Julians’ work today.

At age 10, he moved to Paris to attend high school, but it was his uncle, Vernon Howe, a copywriter at legendary advertising agency “Collett Dickenson Pearce”, who drew Julian, aged 18, to London to assist him making commercials. Vernon Howe created unforgettable adverts like Heineken’s “Re-freshes the Parts other Beers cannot Reach”, and worked alongside brilliant advertising names Charles Saatchi, Sir Alan Parker, Sir Frank Lowe. In 1992 Julian moved back to Paris attended the “French Conservatory of Film”, and the “Brooks Institute of Photography”, graduating with honors in 1997.
