About Me

After purchase, a painting on a wall is always divorced from its original context; a series with related works. Subsequently I think each work should be able to stand on it's own. As painting is a visual medium, one decidedly created to convey thought, idea or emotion, the image should aim to do just that in as beautiful a manner as possible despite the thought, idea or emotion that acted as it's impetus. So, wrapped in beauty, like sugar coating, my aim is to produce attractive works that insinuate additional intent.

The people who share our environment offer, to me, the greatest attraction as their actions are responses to those around them. Cataloguing the multitude of delicate social interactions is a fascination for me and the works I produce are studies of body language versus intent.
I use painting as a medium that offers the opportunity to place figures under a prism of loosened reality where scenes might be exaggerated for the sake of clarity and understanding. This is the theory which currently drives the most recent examples of my work.
