About Me

Filipa Pinto, 20 year old fashion designer, born in Oporto on the 26th September 1989, moved to London at the age of 10. It was in London that she acquired a taste for fashion. Studied modern art and modern languages (including French and German) in Ousedale Secondary School and it was also there that she had her first introduction to sewing and fabrics due to extra-curricular classes in textile technology that on her own initiative, attended. At the age of 16, moved back to Portugal with the solid idea that she would follow what always inspired her, Filipa Pinto took a three year Fashion Design course at Escola de Moda do Porto. It was during this course that she had the opportunity to have an intership with the designer Michaela Larisch, and then received a proposal for subsequent placement at her studio in Leca da Palmeira, after completion of the course. At the age of 18, she completed her course and was awarded the Merit Award of the Ministry of Education, for being the best student of Fashion Design at Escola de Moda do Porto. Later, she accepted the proposal that was made to her during the apprenticeship, and it was an opportunity to demonstrate her value, realize the operation of a business and improve her skills at a professional level. In 2008, Filipa Pinto created Royal Pride, her first collection of autumn / winter, which informed the public about her style of work and creation. Filipa Pinto is a designer with a design that is between the commercial and the avant-garde, the sophisticated and daring, always bearing in mind its ideal of feminine woman. The quality of her clothing is due to the fact that Filipa only works with high quality matterials. Filipa also participated in an event to promote young designers in Coruña, Spain in January 2009 where her work was well received and in the same month, also participated in an event with the same scope, organized by the Ministry of Education at the Atlantic Pavilion, Lisbon. Compiled the first catalog of her collection by the fashion photographer João Camilo and model Claudia Pedrosa, which was made public in several occasions, including the TV show Praça da Alegria RTP1 on the 4th February, 2009 and also with the official presentation of the collection of autumn / winter 08, that consisted in a fashion show at Caffé Del Mar, in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the 6th February 2009. She was invited to work in the field of fashion production/Styling by photographer Roger Brito. She had, with this proposal, the possibility of applying her knowledge of styling in the development of catalogs for fashion companies such as: Luipex (Beachwear, SS09), AtivoKids (Kidswear, SS09 and AW09), Vittor Faria (Menswear, SS09), Chicdress (Womenswear, SS09), BacciBags & Accessories, Jovita's Jeans and Jeans Karlora. One of Filipa's creations was on the April issue of FHM Portugal, photography authored by photographer John Camillo and worn by model Claudia Pedrosa for the competition Sony / FHM and has held one of the top 10 winners. Later, she was selected to participate in the 5th edition of the competition for young designers: Acrobactic, held on the 3rd of April 2009 in CACE Cultural do Porto, where she had another opportunity to show her creative vision through a wide audience and be evaluated by a jury of influential people in the fashion area, including Alexandra Macedo, Ricardo Dourado, Julio Torcato and photographer Rita Lino. On June 10, 2009 presented her Spring/Summer09 collection on a party called Diamonds Are Forever held in VOLT Club at Porto. The Spring/Summer09 catalog was prepared by the fashion photographer João Camilo, with the participation of model Adriana Moura.
