About Me

My name is Brian. I am an experienced photographer mainly interested in fine art images, especially of people. My main interest at MM is connecting with models for fine art nude and portrait work. I live in New Zealand but visit the US often.

I try to make every shoot a real collaboration with my model. Great images can only be made with both our creative energies! I admire and have great respect for the models I work with, and think that is reflected in our interaction and ultimately in the images we make.

I was invited to and attended the ARTnudes Network Annual Retreats (Zoe Fest) in 2012 2013, 2017, 2018, and 2022.

I was moved to choose the name "Aspiring Imagery" after reading Monuments & Maidens: the Allegory of the Female Form, by Marina Warner, who gave a reason why allegorical figures are so often nude: "we cast our aspirations in images that transcend the limits of what we know and live"

"Brian shot me on location at the Zorthian Ranch in Los Angeles, CA on a chilly/rainy morning/afternoon shoot. He thoughtfully had heaters running and gave me multiple breaks to warm up as we shot half indoors and half outside. With the multiple locations we incorporated both our ideas in the collaboration of photographs. Brian was easy to work with and open to creative inspiration in the moment. The photographs were beautifully composed, with warm moody lighting styled like a photograph from a movie set. I would recommend Brian to others and look forward to our next shoot!" Read less

"I had a ball collaborating with Brian. I worked with him both in November last year and recently, near his hometown in New Zealand. He is a great person and has wonderful ideas. "It was great to work together 2 times in my visit to NZ. Our first shoot was inside and the 2nd was outside. He spoke to me about life class modeling which I hadn't thought about much before but so glad he sparked some inspiration in me to follow that path of modeling as well as photographic work.
