My strongest trait as a photographer is my candid/event (concert, theatre, production stills, photojournalism) photography, and I have been doing work in these areas around the Kansas City and Lawrence area for the past couple of years. I've also had the pleasure of working artistically with several very talented models and designers as well on projects of an artistic nature.

As a playwright and screenwriter/director primarily, I approach photography as a means of telling a specific story. All photography should evoke some kind of emotional response, and I am envious of many photographers ability to think from a visual starting point, as I begin primarily from a character or emotional starting point.

I'm much better at finding a shot in a scene than I am at pre-visualizing and creating that image specifically - Consequently I like collaborating with designers who have strong ideas and who can help work to create a story, be it the story of a character or the story of an emotion.

I primarily work with actors as models for the same reason - I usually direct my shoots as if I was directing a performance for a film or the stage. The images that people find the strongest (and most of the ones I like the best) were from moments where an actor/model was exploring a character and emotion rather than concentrating on a position.

I'm would be interested in any sorts of project, and any nature subject/photography. I find that the best work comes out of honest collaborations where ideas are truly shared. I would like to work with some designers who have strong ideas, I'd also like to become more accustomed to working with models who I don't already know.

I also want to continue to work to be a better photographer of things primarily visual, without a previously established character and narrative. This means -Just Taking More Photos Of People!-!
