When it comes to hair colouring, Abby Smith is one of the most exciting exponents of the discipline. She has become one of the most in-demand colourists within the industry today, as both a colourist and technical educator.

Credited in 2014 and 2015 as one of the ‘Top 5 hair colourists' in the UK after being shortlisted for the Creative Head 'Most Wanted Colour Expert' competition and the BHA ‘British Colourist of the Year’. Most recently Abby has been credited 'Top 10 hair colourists' status in the Netherlands after being shortlisted for 'Dutch Colourist of the Year' for the Coiffure Award 2019.

Abby is also the first colourist in the world to be requested and invited to join the Wella Professionals global design team in Geneva for short term contract role as the Global Colour Specialist.

Abby is most certainly a woman in demand. In 2017 saw Abby working in Munich, Geneva, Berlin, Hamburg, Darmstadt, Porto, Ibiza, London and Australia.

Within 12 months of arriving in Amsterdam in 2018, Abby has coloured the locks of top actresses, fashion designers, influencers and artists of the Netherlands. Abby has also the sought after colourist for top dutch models that have graced the runways of Oscar De La Renta, Ralph Lauren, Zimmerman and Dsquared at New York Fashion Week, OFF_WHITE and Balmain at Paris Fashion Week and featured in countless editorial collections + front covers of Harpers Bazaar UK/Korea/Netherlands and Vogue Russia/Japan.

Abby has also previously featured at countless trade shows in the UK/Europe and several global colour and care campaigns for Wella Professionals, TV shows, commercials, films, music videos and featured in a variety of magazines throughout her 25 year career.

Abby has a wealth of experience and plethora of knowledge in a variety of disciplines when sharing her knowledge through her Abby Smith Colour education company globally; from managing successful colour teams, building colour revenue in salon, freelance technical education and contributions to global campaigns for fashion companies, consumer advertising and major hair product manufacturers.

A visionary in her field of expertise, Abby doesn’t just work with oxidising colour on real human hair, but is also skillful with colouring wefts and wigs for session work. Abby is also highly experienced with direct dye colours, stencils, coloured sprays and gels when getting creative to create forward thinking colour techniques and unique effects on hair.

Abby's signature colour techniques are renowned for being 'simple but effective' salon friendly techniques which include her own bespoke freehand inspired ‘Boho Luxe’ and more recently 'The Glow' techniques, advanced colour correction skills, pre-lightening, creative toning techniques and innovative advanced fashion colour techniques.

Abby now looks very much forward to the future, pursuing her dreams inspiring the global hairdressing industry as a Technical Educator and building her Abby Smith Colour education company. Also working as a freelance colourist, educator, online global MCE online mentor and trendvision global mentor in collaboration with Wella Professionals.
