Hello to MM

I wish to work with models of all ages, genders, races and looks to build a portfolio of high quality studio and on-location photos. In particular, I will focus on portraits, fashion, glamour and lingerie with experienced models. The rate will vary based on your experience, looks and concepts.

Also, I will work with new/inexperienced models at a lower rate or on a TFP basis if we both can benefit. I also accept paid assignments (i.e., you pay me) - if you're starting out and want to build a portfolio, contact me.

I was originally trained as a newspaper photojournalist, oriented towards available light and on-camera flash. As a result, I am now improving my studio lighting skills with models at studios that I rent in Fairfield County, CT; Westchester County, NY; and New York City, NY (mainly Manhattan and Queens).

My philosophy is to work in collaberation with a model to achieve an optimal result for both parties. While I will bring ideas and direction for a photo shoot, I welcome and encourage a model to suggest poses, concepts and outfits. I believe that great photos are the result of the model and photographer working well together.

For a paid shoot (i.e., I pay you), I always request a signed model release, which I will send in advance for your review. While occasionally I will do a paid photo shoot without a model release, if that case the pics must provide to me either (i) high quality shooting practice with a top model or (ii) a unique/creative type of portfolio experience. I may market photos agencies and magazines and/or maybe post them to MM or my website.

For TF shoots (i.e., neither one of us gets paid), I will usually request a model release that allows shared usage rights. After a any shoot I will deliver photos to you on a CD for your personal use. I will retain the rights to commercial use of the photos.

Be aware that for a paid shoot you will always receive payment from me. However, the photos might never be sold/published, despite our mutual creativity at a shoot and my marketing efforts. The "market value" of the photos is hard to determine. Of course, whether or not I am successful at selling photos, I benefit from learning which photos/concepts are attractive to the marketplace and you are receiving money and experience.

I always welcome your bringing bring a friend to a shoot. Your friend can help with wardrobe, styling or makeup, if you wish.
