Luis V. Arismendi, CPP started his photographic journey in the late 1960's when a group of friends decided to become spelunkers and photograph the beauty of nature underground. Buying an Olympus 35 mm camera and a carbide lamp, Luis and his friends began their exploration of the beautiful limestone and crystal formations made by nature through the crevices of the earth. This began a journey of light exploration that has continued for the last 40 years.

After college, Luis began exploring the medium of black and white photography. Being fortunate enough to have been able to study with the likes of Ansel Adams, Morley Baer, John Sexton, Brett Weston and Huntington Witherill - Luis developed a love for medium and large format cameras and the process of the fine print.

The passion grew to a level that he felt that he needed to take some dedicated time to study photography at the renowned Brooks Institute of Photography where he continued to develop his photographic skills and visual abilities. At Brooks he focused on traditional lighting techniques for both fine art and commercial photography.

As the digital revolution developed in photography, Luis has embraced it fully by drawing on his previous film experience and apply and adapting it to the new medium.

Luis has fallen in love with the process of printing photos on canvas. Today he prints mostly on canvas and uses Corel Painter to enhance the painterly quality of many of his photographs.

Luis' work has been published and shown in several galleries.

Luis is a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Royal Photographic Society (RPS), Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP). He continues to study his art at various workshops throughout the country.
