I am Alina. I have a passion for portraits. When I started out in photography I only took pictures of people, but nowadays I believe that one can take a place's or an object's portrait as well; portraiture is a way of looking at things. Still, most of my work has to do with people. I'm genuinely interested in people, and this is, I think, the key ingredient of portrait photography. In order to capture a person's essence in a photograph one needs to empathize with the person, to understand, to love, to find the glow in what some call flaws - and I believe I fall in love with each and every one of my subjects in some way.

I have worked a lot with musicians, shooting publicity photos or events. Through Model Mayhem I hope to meet models and stylists both for work and personal development/projects. I'm not only interested to what I'm already doing (photography for performing artists and performance), I want to get into things that are new to me, like fashion and beauty. Fashion-wise I'm into the alternative, creative side with a hint of fetish, a love for costumes, burlesque, radical self expression. On the other hand, I also love natural, candid shots. I sometimes like to be on the other side of the lens too, I'd love to model more both for fun and because I think it helps one become a better photographer.
