Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Albert Wong and I am a lifestyle event, wedding, portrait and sports photographer. I am located in Mississauga, Ontario.

I am trained formally as a licensed Professional Engineer (Mechanical), but have always had a more artistic side trying to get out, and this need has been expressed through my photography. I have always found the Exposure Triangle relationship between Aperture, ISO, and Shutter Speed to be much more interesting than any scientific/engineering equation that I have encountered.

Ever since getting my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic 104 (which I still have) when I was 8 years old, I have never been very far from a viewfinder and lens.
I bought my first film SLR camera (a Nikon F2 Photomic which I still own and use), and a variety of lenses, during my university years at the U of T. The experience of having the freedom to be able to change lens focal lengths and aperture settings to achieve any depth of field to suit one’s creative needs was a revelation to me. That camera went to every class, sports event, and field trip with me during those four years, capturing all the trials and tribulations of university life as an engineering student. It was at this point that I found my way into a darkroom to actually process and develop my own film and make prints. I even managed to incorporate the use of my Nikon to perform time-lapse photography for my fourth year research thesis project (The Craze Characteristics of PMMA {Poly-Methyl-Methacrylate, a.k.a. Plexiglass} in a Methanol Environment); nerdy and artistic, like I said.

I have been a passionate photographer for most of my life, and a dedicated lifelong learner, continuously working to upgrade my creative and technical skills through formal training, books, videos, on-line tutorials, and practical application experience. Any one who knows me personally, or, professionally, can attest to the fact that the term passionate is an understatement. I exclusively use a combination of only top-tier NIKON professional-grade photographic equipment. This includes state-of-the-art Digital, and Film camera bodies, along with a vast collection of very fast lenses (only f/1.4 to f/2.8 constant apertures used) that enable me to cover just about any type of event/venue/lighting condition with the extensive focal length range of 14 mm to 1,200 mm. I have a complete studio lighting set-up, as well as portable lighting gear for on-site projects.

My personal philosophy is that whatever one does, it should be done with focus, passion and energy and performed with all the proper tools, skill and preparation required to ensure the greatest probability of achieving a successful outcome. Life is too short to practice, or, put up with mediocrity.

As you can see, photography is my passion. I live it and breath it. Photography runs through my veins and I have been truly blessed to be able to finally do it professionally. I am as excited and enjoy each and every photo assignment that comes my way, as if it were my first.
