About Me

I am self taught and have considered myself a photographer since 2005 when I went out and bought my first dSLR (a Nikon D70s). Today I have since upgraded camera bodies to a Nikon D300 and have had my old D70s converted to shoot infrared only. My current work revolves around infrared landscapes and portraiture... though most of my most recent models have been the four legged kind.

I have two styles of portraiture I would currently like to pursue and establish portfolios to represent. The first is infrared portraiture. Infrared is an amazing medium to work with but a little unforgiving to work with when dealing with portraits. The most common comment with an infrared portrait is that the subject looks 'dead' but when done correctly I believe infrared can be used effectively for portraits and add a very unique touch of the surreal to your standard image.

The second style of portraiture I want to study and expand on are portraits that have an almost painterly feel to them. A photo that makes you wonder whether it was painted or shot with a camera can be a beautiful thing and I will continue to refine my technique to bring these kinds of pictures to life.
